Preferred menu for me

Image
By the third month, I can say that I've tried a lot of combinations and techniques to keep the menu fresh and exciting. A little review - for your benefit. MONTH ONE : Going for gold (in one shopping trip) I think as an overall reflection on the first few weeks on the diet, I was, well, a little overzealous. In my defence though, that is true to my nature. I will always plunge in the deep end or dedicate myself to something 110%. I zealously scrutinize and memorize the entire program, and try to reap the full benefits as soon as possible. It's like learning a federal policy authority...okay, I'm a little hellbent on policy. I digress... For the first three weeks, I would lovingly choose a wide variety of meats from the list: a little lean beef, the full three servings of bison, chicken, turkey and some of the PC honey maple turkey slices. I had the full allowable. While I love caribou, it's a little difficult to source. Plus, I'd rather leave the ...

I've always liked a good piece of meat...!

They stay fresher and more flavourful that way.  I was using Patak's Tandoori paste for a couple of weeks (because I love curry) but again, the salt retains water. I only use it a couple of times a week now. However, you can use all the fresh garlic, spices, pepper, mustard, pre-approved ketchup, Kikoman soya sauce, etc., and make your own bbq sauces to rival any store bought stuff.  I've also bought the M&M honey & garlic chicken and the M&M lemon & herb chicken. These are excellent and if precooked, stay really moist and flavourful. Their turkey breast is also good, and a single portion is good for two days. Great for slicing and putting on salads. Pl...

A general overview of the program

The first week is always a large drop in weight - a lot of water released and some fat. It's a great motivation.   On average though, by following the diet with your preferred foods (and cut down the salt) you should lose 1 pound every 2 days. You are guaranteed 16-20 lbs per month by following the diet strictly. I average around 15 lbs per month, and that's having tried a few different approaches, but always staying strict.   I found in the first couple of weeks I was trying a bunch of the recipes and trying to get really creative. However, I found that I actually just prefer my meals simple and fast, so I don't do many of the recipes now. I don't need to, but you might want to.  The nurses advise against changing your diet all the time though; stick with a pattern for a week to let the body start the ketosis/burning. Too many sudden changes of food can throw it out of whack.  It's always a good idea if you're traveling or expecting to be delayed from...
