On no! Bikini season is upon us...

and I'm again 10 lbs heavier.

Geesh!

It is truly amazing how old eating habits creep us to bite you in your ever-expanding ass if you don't constantly keep those foods that wreak havoc with your body in check.  Bread - bad (for me.)   Pasta, rice, potatoes...rum and coke (even Coke Zero!)...man.

So, it will be back to the strict diet for me.  I'm not going to go running back to the Bernstein Clinic right away.  I'll pull out my diet sheets from some earlier posting and haul my butt to Loblaws to restock the fridge and get my evil environmentally degrading Ziploc Steamer Bags chock full of 8 oz veggie delights and 7 oz (lovingly split equally in 3 portions) protein portions ready.

I am determined to get back to 140 lbs - if it kills me.

Wish me luck!

Helen how much wine do you allow yourself on maintenance?

Hi Boo - I'd have 4 oz per day max of good red wine - very manageable. It was when you want to have a rum & Coke zero that the sugar in the rum wreaks havoc with your metabolism.

Hi Helen,
You are a very good blogger and an inspiration with your honesty. I too am on Dr. B. I started May 21st at 227.4 and am now at 200. I have been at this weight since last Friday. I am not cheating in any way but do not see any weight loss. I am burning ketones fine. Did you experience any plateaus? I also drink 12-15 cups of water each day. The nurses at the clinic are not mean or anything but say "sometimes this happens". I feel like I should give up because I am doing everything and I see nothing.

LanaT - sorry for the very late reply. Are you still on Bernstein? How did the program work for you?? I was told not to drink so much water because it can "extinguish" your ketone-burning flame. I actually only drink about 3-4 glasses of water; the rest is decaf coffee in the morning (x2); a affeine free Diet Coke at lunch; a caffeine-free tea in the afternoon, and my 3-4 glasses of water through the day and evening if I feel peckish. While the water does flush the fat out, too much liquids dilutes the KLyte /potassium from breaking down the protein and getting the body moving. Perhaps decrease the amount of water and see if that works - and reduce fruit for 2 days and all salt. Drop me a line and let me know how you're doing/did on the program! Cheers

Hi Helen, it's been 4 years since your last update but I still find your posting truly inspiring. I was on Dr B since May 2014 and since then lost 40 lbs. I still have at least 15 lbs to go. I do want to see how the maintainence looks like I want to lose that lbs by myself (due to cost). I googled and your blog came up. THanks for sharing all the tips and struggle :) I hope you still keep those evil fat off till now, all the best!
