I did it! Now maintaining it....

Okay, so I reached 139 and decided rather than fork out another $150, I'd go on my own.  I'm maintaining 143 give or take, and I think that's where my body is most comfortable.  Once I get back into a regular eating routine again, I seem to stabilize there.

So, I'm keeping up my 16 oz vegetable/amalgam routine, and watching the fats/carbs, and staying busy.  That makes a difference.

Plus, I told the Easter bunny to take a hike, so without any chocolate tempting my lips, I'm doing alright.

I was in the gardens this past weekend too with the amazing spring weather, and did a lot of work.  Last summer I would have to take a break every 10 minutes due to lightheadedness when I would do physically demanding activities.  Now I have the energy (and some extra calories) to sustain a  full afternoon of outdoor work.

Maybe my garden with be a little better maintained this year!

As an added bonus - and incentive to stay healthy - my hubby carved out an 8 x 10 patch in our side yard so we can plant a fresh vegetable garden.  I've already mapped out the favourites, ordered the seeds, and even started a vermiculture kit to turn all my vegetable scraps (from my ritual Sunday six-8 oz veggie bag prep sessions) into worm food to sustain my garden.

That's it - it's a whole new lifestyle and chapter!  And it took a whole year (and ongoing mental reprogramming) to inculcate.

Here's to the Summer of 2010 - may it be slimming an rewarding for you too!

Congratulations Helen! I'm so happy for you! I know you will maintain your weight as you are so motivated!

I know what you mean about having the "extra energy". I cannot believe how much energy I have now - imagine what I will have 41.6 lbs from now!

Good luck!

Again... I think this whole journey has been truly inspirational, Helen! I don't think I know anyone who is as dedicated to their personal and professional advancement as much as you are. I know this family friend who went on the Bernstein diet as well. This particular lady had done well initially, but when it came to maintenance, she fell weak and eventually had a bit of a relapse. Although she was able to lose "majority" of her weight, it still came back in some form and she was not able to be at her ideal initial weight.

Anyhow, I don't think this particular diet is for EVERYONE, per se. But for someone who has immense Will Power and control over their indulgence, especially when it comes to special occasions and dinners, it's very ideal.

I tip my hat to you, madam! You have done it and I trust you will have no such issues as these particularly weak individuals!
